Bus

Tickets for the services can be purchased online, at authorised agencies located in the Arrivals Hall or on board the bus. Stops are located in front of the International Departures Hall.

ATRAL (Tel +39 773 489 167) operates the Ciampino Airlink to Ciampino train station, located 10 minutes from the terminal, where trains can be boarded to Termini station, in central Rome. They depart Monday to Friday between 6:15 am and 11:30 pm and on holidays from 6:30 am to 10:05 pm, and the combined bus + train ticket costs €2.70. There are also buses to the Anagnina metro terminal on weekdays from 6:54 am to 10:40 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 5:35 am to 11:00 pm, with a travel time of 20 min. and a fare of €1.20.

Line 720 from ATAC (Tel +39 646 951) connects the site with Roma Laurentina station between 5:30 am and 11:30 pm, with stops at Vigna Murata, Ardeatina and Fioranello (€1.50). Alternatively, route 520 travels to Cinecittí  and Subaugusta at the same hours.

Sit Bus Shuttle (Tel +39 6591 6826 / 6592 3507) provides transport to Termini station in 30-45 min. at a fare of €6.00, from 7:45 am to 10:30 pm. Other operators providing the same service are Terravision (Tel +39 697 610 632), from 8:15 am to 10:30 pm (€6.00) and Schiaffini (Tel +39 6713 0531 / 671 305 377), between 8:10 am and 11:30 pm (€6.90).

Train

The nearest station is located in the town of Ciampino and is connected to the airport by Ciampino Airlink buses every 20 minutes, which stop a few metres from the airport entrance. Trains run from Ciampino to Termini terminal, with a journey time of 15 min. Tickets for the combined bus/train journey cost €2.70. More information: Tel +39 668 475 475.

Authorised vehicles are available outside the Arrivals area. These are white in colour and have a "TAXI" sign on the roof, plus the licence number on the doors, rear and inside the vehicle. The fare to Fiumicino airport is €52.00, while the fare to the centre of Rome is around €31.00-36.00 (35-50 minute journey).

Although there are issues that seem more than obvious, it is always advisable to take them into account when moving to or from the airport, and especially if we go by public transport.  1- To the airport - It is convenient to leave with a little more anticipation than what is commonly suggested. If you choose a taxi or a private car service, always take into account peak traffic times, demonstrations, strikes or events that may delay the journey to the airport from where you are. It is always good to be informed about what is happening. If you contract a shared transfer service, have a contact telephone number handy in case of any delay by the company. In these cases they usually already have a scheduled collection time. If you use public transport (collective, train) take into account the schedules (weekends and holidays tend to have less frequency), if you have to change and also how to board (if you need a card or paying the driver or motorist at the moment ). These are details that seem obvious, but it is advisable to know so as not to have surprises and suffer a delay that could cause complications. If you rent a car to get to the airport, check where to leave the vehicle. At some airports, there is an exclusive parking lot for rental cars.  2 -From the airport- Here it is a little less stressful since you don't have the pressure of missing your flight. In the worst case, you will arrive later at the place where you are going to stay or at the meeting point where you are trying to arrive. Once you leave the plane, look for your suitcase and finish with the arrival procedures that are required. Then, follow the directions for public transportation or ask the airport staff. It is very useful to find out in advance the schedules of the buses or trains in case you arrive late at night. Not all work 24 hours. The same goes for taxis. In case of using an Uber-type service, have the mobile application handy to contact the driver. On the other hand, if you booked a private transport service, it is likely that they will have a person waiting for you, identified with a sign. If you rent a car to go from the airport to your final destination, for greater peace of mind it is advisable to book it in advance. Rental counters are usually available in the arrivals hall.
