Overnight layover guide. Sleeping facilities in the public zone or boarding area
Please note that some published services and schedules may be subject to change. If the idea is to spend the night in the public area, consider a plan B in case the stay inside the airport is only allowed for those who are about to board.
Spending the night at the airport
Newark Airport is open 24 hours a day and has several things to keep you entertained while waiting for your flight to depart. If you decide to spend the night on the premises, be aware that security personnel will ask you to proceed to the public area of the terminals once security closes until the next day. If your flight is cancelled due to adverse weather, airport staff can provide you with sleeping cots and blankets.
Where to rest: There are generally not many seats, so it is best to be prepared to sleep on the floor. The prayer room in Terminal C has long benches where you may be able to lie down. In all terminals, you will find VIP lounges with more amenities, but they are closed at night. A hotel is located within the airport grounds.
Baggage: Luggage storage at the lower level of Terminal B.
Eating and drinking: No options open at night.
Restrooms: Showers only inside some VIP lounges.
Wi-Fi: Free and unlimited.
Other services available around the clock: ATMs, baby changing facilities.
