Washington-Dulles International Airport, opened on November 17, 1962, serves the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and is one of the most modern and important airports in the country. In addition to numerous domestic flights, it operates international destinations around the world.

Number of Terminals - 1 - Open 24 hours a day. Composed of a main terminal (where the Z gates are located) and two intermediate terminals (A/B and C/D). The AeroTrain automated train system connects the main terminal to concourses A, B and C, with a travel time of less than 2 minutes between stations. Passengers arriving on most international flights do not use the AeroTrain because they must first clear U.S. Customs. The terminal station is located past the security checkpoints.

There are information desks on the Departures level (ticketing), on the Arrivals level (baggage carousels 6, 11 and 14), just after the east and west security checkpoints, and near gates A15, B62, C17 and D16. There are also volunteers throughout the airport in yellow or blue uniforms to assist passengers.
The airport is located in Loudoun and Fairfax counties, 26 miles (42 km) west of Washington City.

Cell Phone Lot - Free waiting area for arriving passengers, located on Autopilot Drive. Maximum waiting time is 1 hour. Once passengers have collected their baggage and exited the terminal, ask them to call you with the gate number and level where they are waiting. It is important that they are waiting curbside and ready to be picked up. Parking at the curb for longer than a quick pickup may result in a parking ticket and/or towing. Terminal Parking - Short and long-stay spaces in front of the terminal, connected to it via a subway walkway. There is no minimum or maximum stay. However, vehicles left for more than 45 days must be registered at the parking office to avoid being identified as "abandoned" and removed from the facility at the owner's expense.

Parking Garage 1 & 2 - Multi-level parking garages for short and long term, with covered spaces and charging stations for electric vehicles. Washington-Dulles International Airport offers very accessible facilities for people with reduced mobility or disabilities.
Wheelchair Service
You can arrange for this type of assistance inside any of the concourses and the Main Terminal. Notify your airline at least 48 hours before your visit so they can better accommodate your needs.
Public restrooms
On-site restrooms are fully accessible and have toilets for people with disabilities. Most have infrared flushing devices. All sinks are located at an accessible height and infrared devices are used to activate the water. In many locations, there is also a unisex restroom for assistive companions adjacent to the public restrooms.
Public telephones
Telephones with telecommunication devices for the deaf and hard of hearing (TDD) and wheelchair accessible can be found in the terminal and concourses.
Security checkpoints
All security checkpoints are accessible. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has a program to assist travelers with disabilities or medical conditions.
Elevators
Elevators are equipped with raised Braille buttons and are wheelchair accessible. In some elevators, an electronic voice announces arrival at each floor.
Ground transportation
Airport shuttle buses are equipped with lifts or ramps and audible announcements, as are shuttle services to the rental car facility.
Likewise, Washington Flyer Taxi has several vehicles in its fleet equipped to accommodate wheelchairs. If you need an accessible vehicle, advance reservations are recommended by calling Tel +1 703 572 8294.
Parking
The airport has specially designated parking spaces for passengers with reduced mobility. Vehicles must display government-issued license plates or placards for disabled use. In the terminal lots, these spaces are located as close as possible to the main building or ground transportation. In the economy lots, spaces are located adjacent to the shuttle stops.

Dulles has several nursing rooms located at the following locations:
- Arrivals level: next to the restrooms across from baggage carousels 2, 6, 11 and 14.
- Next to gate A20
- Next to gate B70
- Next to gate C11
- Next to gate D1

Pet relief areas
The airport has several relief areas for passengers traveling with service animals or pets:
- Next to gate A32
- Opposite gate D1
- At the opposite ends of the Main Terminal, on the Departures level (ticketing/check-in). Exit the building through gates 1 or 16 or through the exit near baggage carousel 1.
These areas are clearly marked and contain waste bags and receptacles.
