Tribhuvan International Airport, opened on 15 June 1955, connects Nepal to the rest of the world, as the rest of the country's airports only operate domestic flights. However, a new international airport (Nijgadh International Airport) is planned for 2025. It operates domestic flights and several destinations in Southeast Asia, the Far East and the Middle East.
