Bus

RTM (Tel +33 491 919 210) operates line 91, which offers direct transportation to Saint Charles Train Station, in the city centre, every 10 minutes between 4:10 am and 1:30 am. Journey time is 25 min. and tickets cost €10.00.

There are numerous services between the airport and popular destinations in the area, among them: Aix-en-Provence, Salon de Provence, Sisteron, Gap, Arles, Nîmes, Montpellier, Digne-les-Bains, Martigues and several ski resorts.

Train

Bus L13 links the enclosure with Vitrolles Station, situated 5 minutes away from the terminals (€1.20). From there depart daily trains from SNCF (Tel +33 800 114 023) between 6:24 am and 10:03 pm to 42 cities in the surroundings, with the possibility to make connections to several other services in Marseille. Destinations include Arles, Nîmes, Montpellier, Béziers, Narbonne, Perpignan, Montélimar, Valence, Toulon. The trip to Saint Charles Station, in the city centre, takes around 15 minutes and has a fare of €5.70. Tickets can be acquired at vending machines inside the airport or at the station.

Taxi

Cabs are available around the clock outside Terminal 1. Journey time to the city centre is about 30 minutes and costs €50.00 during the day and €60.00 at night. More information: Tel +33 442 142 444.

Bus services from the airport

Aix-en-Provence - Line 40 from Lepilote (Tel +33 800 713 137). Leaves every 30 minutes between 5:35 am and 0:25 am. Journey time is 30 min. and the fare is €10.00. Goes through Aix - Gare TGV and Plan d'Aillane.

Salon de Provence - Line 17 from Lepilote. Mondays through Fridays from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm, weekends from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. It stops at Vitrolles, Rognac and Lançon (70 min.) Tickets cost €2.50.
Line 19 is a direct service to Salon de Provence that operates Mondays through Fridays between 5:40 am and 7:40 pm, with a travel time of 40 min.

Sisteron - Gap - Line 26/29 from ZOU! (Tel +33 413 943 050). Four times a day, it takes 3 hours and costs €20.60. Goes through Cadarache, Manosque, Peyruis and Tallard.

Bordeaux - BlaBlaCar (Tel +33 892 680 068) and Flixbus (Tel +33 176 360 412) provide a 10-hour trip, via Arles, Nîmes, Montpellier, Béziers, Toulouse and Agen (€46.98).

Digne-les-Baines - Line 26 from ZOU! (Tel +33 413 943 050). Five daily departures, with a trip of 2 hours and a cost of €21.30. Intermediate stops include Saint-Paul-Lès-Durance, Manosque, Peyruis, Les Mées, Malijai and Mallemoisson.

Martigues - Line 38 from Lepilote. A fare of €5.50 and a trip of 1 hour, every 30 min. Mondays through Fridays between 6:25 am and 8:50 pm, weekends from 6:35 am to 7:45 pm. Stops at Marignane, Gignac, Châteauneuf-les-Martigues and La Mède.

Nice - BlaBlaCar and Flixbus operate services to Nice airport, also stopping at Fréjus, Cannes and Antibes (€19.99).

Transportation Tips to/from the airport

Although there are issues that seem more than obvious, it is always advisable to take them into account when moving to or from the airport, and especially if we go by public transport.
 
 1- To the airport - It is convenient to leave with a little more anticipation than what is commonly suggested. If you choose a taxi or a private car service, always take into account peak traffic times, demonstrations, strikes or events that may delay the journey to the airport from where you are. It is always good to be informed about what is happening.
 
If you contract a shared transfer service, have a contact telephone number handy in case of any delay by the company. In these cases they usually already have a scheduled collection time.
 
If you use public transport (collective, train) take into account the schedules (weekends and holidays tend to have less frequency), if you have to change and also how to board (if you need a card or paying the driver or motorist at the moment ). These are details that seem obvious, but it is advisable to know so as not to have surprises and suffer a delay that could cause complications.
 
If you rent a car to get to the airport, check where to leave the vehicle. At some airports, there is an exclusive parking lot for rental cars.
 
 2 -From the airport- Here it is a little less stressful since you don't have the pressure of missing your flight. In the worst case, you will arrive later at the place where you are going to stay or at the meeting point where you are trying to arrive.
 
Once you leave the plane, look for your suitcase and finish with the arrival procedures that are required. Then, follow the directions for public transportation or ask the airport staff.
 
It is very useful to find out in advance the schedules of the buses or trains in case you arrive late at night. Not all work 24 hours. The same goes for taxis. In case of using an Uber-type service, have the mobile application handy to contact the driver.
 
On the other hand, if you booked a private transport service, it is likely that they will have a person waiting for you, identified with a sign. If you rent a car to go from the airport to your final destination, for greater peace of mind it is advisable to book it in advance. Rental counters are usually available in the arrivals hall.
