Overnight layover guide. Sleeping facilities in the public zone or boarding area
Please note that some published services and schedules may be subject to change. If the idea is to spend the night in the public area, consider a plan B in case the stay inside the airport is only allowed for those who are about to board.
Spending the night at the airport
New Orleans Airport is open 24 hours a day and is a comfortable and safe place to spend the night if you have an early morning flight or if your flight is delayed. Be aware that once the security checkpoints close for the night, you will need to stay in the public area. The air conditioning can be strong, so it is best to bring some warm clothes.
Where to rest: The public area of the terminal has comfortable seats and lounge chairs, especially in the baggage claim area and in front of the border control. It is also quiet during most of the night and the lights are not too bright. There are some VIP lounges that you can access for a fee, but they close at night. Remember that some nearby hotels can provide a shuttle service if you book in advance.
Baggage: There are no lockers or luggage storage facilities on the premises.
Eating and drinking: The only options available during the night are vending machines.
Restrooms: Showers inside some VIP lounges.
Wi-Fi: Free and unlimited.
Other services available around the clock: ATMs, nursing rooms, pet relief areas.
