London Stansted Airport, opened on August 7, 1943, is one of the busiest in the United Kingdom and is used mostly for low-cost flights. It operates domestic and international destinations within Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

The airport is located in Essex, near the village of Stansted Mountfitchet, 48 km (30 miles) northeast of London.
