El Alto International Airport, opened on June 18, 1965, serves the Bolivian capital of La Paz and is one of the most important in the country, as well as being the highest international airport in the world. It concentrates most of the domestic flights and operates international destinations in South America.

There is an information counter in the main hall and tourist information offices in the Arrivals Hall.

The airport is located in the city of El Alto, 14 km (8.5 miles) southwest of La Paz.

Two parking areas are available on the premises. Rates

Uncovered Parking - Located outside the terminal, free of charge and available for short stays.
Covered Parking - For long stays, located in the west wing, with 24-hour security.

Facilities for passengers with special needs

Ramps and adapted toilets are available. Minors between 5 and 12 years old traveling alone will be supervised by airline personnel. Passengers requiring wheelchairs must request them at their airline's counter.
